ACCESS SERVICES ASSISTANT POOL
Position Information
This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill part-time assignment(s) on an as-needed basis. Departments or Divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary assignments as the need arises. You will be contacted by the hiring manager should the department/division be interested in scheduling an interview. AN APPLICATION IS VALID FOR ONE YEAR, AT WHICH TIME APPLICANTS WISHING TO REMAIN IN THE POOL MUST REAPPLY AND UPDATE THEIR INFORMATION.
Position Summary Information
The purpose of this position it to provide service to patrons of Del Mar College Libraries using the Student Technology Center and/or needing assistance at the Access Services Desk.
- Level I – High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
- Level II – Associate’s Degree.
- Level III – Bachelor’s Degree.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: General knowledge of computers, internet and library research. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to answer telephone inquiries. Ability to learn how to use the library catalog and databases. Ability to use computer software, especially Microsoft Office. Night and weekend hours may be a requirement.

Job Duties
- Student Technology Center: Check out and in computers. Assist patrons in selecting software or hardware needed for tasks. Assist patrons in basic use of computer software and/or hardware. Troubleshoot computer and printer problems as needed. Maintain printers, staplers and other office items as needed for patrons.
- Access Services Desk: Check out and in books, media, laptops and other items. Answer basic directional questions or patrons. Answer telephones and performs tasks as needed. Shelve books. Assist in creating id’s. Assist in room reservations. Assist in opening and closing the library.
