Access Control Officer

About the Role

As an Access Control Officer, you will be responsible for monitoring and controlling access to various areas of the facility, ensuring only authorized personnel are allowed entry. This role involves checking IDs, conducting security screenings, verifying work badges, and assisting with emergency evacuation situations. You will also train new employees on alarm systems and visitor access procedures, maintain access to cleared locations, and support the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Program.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and control facility access, including supervision of contract guard service.
• Assist the security manager with investigating security violations and incidents.
• Verify visitors have proper identification required for access to certain facility areas.
• Use various types of visitor management systems.
• Train contracted guard force on BWXT security procedures.
• Greet employees and visitors to the facility.
• Approve visitor requests and conduct background screenings.
• Create ID badges for employees and contractors, assigning appropriate accesses based on need-to-know principles.
• Perform routine interior and exterior camera scans using CCTV to identify unusual occurrences.
• Maintain alertness and notify proper authority of indications of trespassing, fire, and emergencies.
• Oversee the writing of daily activity reports (DAR) and incident reports (IR).
• Support the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Program.
• Oversee the key inventory process.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in physical security and/or personnel security.
• Proof of U.S. Citizenship required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance, as required.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree preferred.
• Security professional certification a plus.
• Active DOD or DOE security clearance is desirable.

Pay

The base salary range for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) is expected to be between $47,000 and $74,000 per year. The base salary offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. The total compensation package may also include an annual cash incentive and a full range of medical, retirement, and other benefits.
