Student Assistant(s) for the ASUA AVP’s Office will serve as the initial point of contact for students, staff, faculty, and community members, providing professional customer service and connecting visitors with ASUA resources.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the initial point of contact for students, staff, and faculty by staffing the front desk and providing customer service for walk-in, phone, and live chat support.
  • Assist full-time staff with general office operations, including answering phones, filing, scanning, copying, preparing packets, on-campus deliveries, data entry, word processing, and other duties as assigned.
  • Greet and welcome incoming students, staff, faculty, and community members, providing resources offered by ASUA.
  • Maintain and organize logs of office supply inventory, golf cart maintenance/usage, and records of department keys.
  • Promote student success through uniquely created bulletin boards to share academic updates and resources.
  • Support events and outreach efforts, maintain an organized and welcoming office environment, assist with special projects, monitor supplies, attend required trainings, and uphold confidentiality and university policies.

Requirements

  • Admission or registration as a CSU student.
  • Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.
  • Enrolled in at least half-time units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate).
  • International students must have full-time enrollment at CSUSB (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate).
  • Eligible to work in the United States (Social Security Card required for payroll).
  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work, follow oral instructions, work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students, and communicate effectively with all levels.
  • Read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Maintain a 2.5 semesterly and cumulative G.P.A. and be enrolled at least half-time in courses at CSUSB.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to learn quickly and complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Detail-oriented, punctual, and initiative-driven.
  • Ability to work both in a team or individual environment.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and reliable attendance.
  • Basic experience in phone and organizational skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and other applications.

Pay

Anticipated hiring range: $16.90 per hour. Compensation will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.

Schedule

  • Academic year available hours: Monday through Friday (8:00 am – 5:00 pm).
  • Summer available hours: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm).

This is a part-time, temporary, seasonal position. Student employees are not eligible to telecommute at any time.
