About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to mentor and train the next generation of neurologists in an academically driven, supportive environment at a large teaching hospital and affiliated academic medical group in Northern California. The role offers a blend of clinical activity, teaching, and potential research within a collaborative and inclusive setting.

Candidates with a variety of interests are welcome, particularly those sub-specializing in Epilepsy, Neurophysiology (EEG, EMG, NCSs, EPs), Neuromuscular, Movement Disorders, Behavioral/Memory, Neuro-Oncology, Neuroimmunology, or Headache. The position supports the development of a majority sub-specialized practice alongside teaching neurology residents in continuity clinic.

Responsibilities

• Outpatient clinical role, Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM
• General consult inpatient coverage between 6 and 8 weeks per year (7-day inpatient weeks followed by 2 days off the following week)
• Occasional supervision of weekly half-day resident continuity clinic
• Teaching neurology residents and medical students (~90% clinical activity, including teaching)
• Participation in scholarly activity and potential for research with IRB support
• Involvement in Primary Stroke Center initiatives, working toward Comprehensive Stroke Center designation
• Collaboration in expanding epilepsy services, including a planned 2-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit
• Active participation in inpatient consultation and ward service
• Opportunities for rank and promotion within the Clinical Faculty Track, in accordance with faculty policy

Requirements

• Board-certified or board-eligible in Neurology
• Dedication to mentoring and training the next generation of neurologists
• Interest in developing a sub-specialized practice (preference for Epilepsy, Neurophysiology, Neuromuscular, Movement Disorders, Behavioral/Memory, Neuro-Oncology, Neuroimmunology, or Headache, but all outpatient clinical interests are welcome)
• Commitment to collaboration and inclusion in an academic and clinical setting

Schedule

• Primarily outpatient clinical role, Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM

• All night call covered by tele-neurology; future plans for residents to take first call
• Up to 30% of time may involve general neurology activities
