About the role
Provide individual and small group tutoring to students. Assist students in improving academic achievement by meeting with them on a regular basis to identify learning challenges and improving study skills. Tutoring is a supplement to classroom teaching.
Responsibilities
- Assist student-athletes with continued higher education skill development including time management, writing, reading, organizational, communication, study, and test preparation
- Develop support plans based on student needs
- Meet with students once or twice per week during designated times to create task sheets and work on skill development
- Generate weekly plans with athletes emphasizing both long-term and short-term goal setting
- Work with the mentor team to schedule subject-specific tutors if the need arises
- Generate reports following each mentor session to follow progress and accountability
- Utilize various computer programs as needed to track student progress

Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience)
- Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills
- Must pass a Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) background check
- Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description
