About the role
Responsible for all facets of academic and faculty affairs, credentialing and onboarding within the department.
Responsibilities
- Process all faculty and non-faculty academic appointments, reappointments, promotions, leaves and/or terminations within the Office of Faculty Affairs, Medical College, NYPH and affiliate institutions.
- Compile appointment enrollment packages for candidates, liaise with the Office of Faculty Affairs and Medical Staff Office, and follow up to ensure timely submission of paperwork.
- Cook up and prepare visa/immigration paperwork. Serve as primary liaison to HR's Immigration Office and/or immigration attorneys.
- Stay abreast of visitor (B), training (J-1) and work (H1B or O) visas or permanent residency policies and laws.
- Oversee the department's appointment, promotion and tenure process for full-time, part-time and voluntary academic staff.
- Oversee the department's submission of the Academic Staff List, Annual Faculty Reviews, Annual Letters and other academic initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all items pertaining to an active clinical appointment including but not limited to active professional licensing and Expirables, OPPE, FPPE, training requirements, and Delineation of Privileges.
- Ensure that Medicaid, Medicare and managed care credentialing and related billing and financial related onboarding for new recruits occurs in a timely manner.
- Ensure clinical providers maintain active malpractice coverage by processing and submitting change forms for new enrollments, terminations, and coverage updates.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Approximately 4 years of related experience.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of academic appointments processes, including faculty onboarding, reappointments, promotions, tenure, and terminations within academic medicine environments.
- Understanding of credentialing requirements for clinical providers, including Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care enrollment processes.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance standards related to clinical appointments (e.g., licensure, privileging, OPPE/FPPE, expirables tracking).
- Familiarity with immigration and visa processes (e.g., J-1, H-1B, O visas, permanent residency) and associated documentation requirements.
- Working knowledge of malpractice insurance requirements and enrollment/coverage processes for clinical providers.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple complex processes simultaneously and meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with faculty, leadership, HR, legal counsel, and external agencies.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify gaps in credentialing, compliance, or onboarding workflows and implement solutions.
- Attention to detail and accuracy when preparing and reviewing sensitive documentation (e.g., credentialing files, visa applications, academic records).
- Interpersonal and relationship management skills to serve as a liaison across departments and external stakeholders.
