Academic Coordinator of Youth Programs
Position Summary
The Academic Coordinator of Youth Programs oversees the Academic Link Day team, ensuring safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environments that support academic growth and social-emotional development.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and implement administrative plans, assess site-specific needs, and evaluate academic programs and activities.
- Oversee curriculum development and evaluation and procure teaching materials as needed.
- Plan and organize events, including training sessions for staff and community stakeholders.
- Monitor the QAP process, ensure deadlines are met, and support Site Coordinators.
- Support Academic Link Day staff in developing academic plans and provide academic advising throughout their journey.
- Compile resources to support student retention, academic achievement, and advocate for additional support for youth and families.
- Collaborate with school administration, academic advisors, YMCA leadership, and site teams to promote student success.
- Maintain strong relationships with community agencies and institutions to enhance program effectiveness.
- Data Management & Compliance:
- Compile documentation and input data for DCYF and Excel grant tracking systems.
- Conduct monthly attendance audits across all sites.
- Training & Presentation:
- Lead presentations and workshops for school administrators, parents, and YMCA Youth Development staff.
- Complete all mandatory safety training and community training as required.
Qualifications
- Must be 21 years or older.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience in youth programs, including supervisory responsibilities.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Availability Monday through Friday, with flexibility for evenings and weekends.
- Clearance of TB test within last 2 years.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (Education or related field).
- Experience in youth development, particularly in community-based organizations or school districts.
- Budget management experience.
- Bilingual in any language, with preference for Spanish, Russian, Cantonese, Mandarin, or others.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
The work environment is dynamic, with a mix of office, school, and community-based settings. Staff may be required to work in varied conditions, including classrooms, event spaces, and outdoor areas. The position involves regular interactions with children, families, and school personnel. Physical demands include standing, walking, and occasional lifting of materials or supplies up to 25 pounds.

Salary Description
The hourly rate for this position is $24.00 - $29.00 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and alignment with salary benchmarks for similar roles. Compensation is in accordance with grant funding approval and program budget requirements.
