Academic Coordinator - Chemistry
About the role
Position works with the Director of Undergraduate Studies (DUS) and Director of Graduate Studies (DGS) in Chemistry to organize and administer programmatic components essential to the educational mission of the department. Additionally, the incumbent serves as a key liaison to Arts & Sciences and supports faculty teaching Chemistry courses, especially General Chemistry.
Responsibilities
- Develop/administer programs for students.
- Develop/administer internship opportunities.
- Serve as liaison to deans’ offices and other departments.
- Interview and advise students.
- Manage student records.
- Cook up and implement curriculum changes.
- Occasionally teach as needed.
- Oversee course listings and schedules each semester.
- Cook up and implement assessment of programs.
- Submit reports as required.
- Assign Teaching Assistants (TAs).
- Assign graduate student office space.
- Cook up and implement recruitment orientations and meetings.
- Help supervise non-academic staff.
Working Conditions
Job Location/Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Ability to travel to various on- and off-campus locations. Physical Effort: Typically sitting at a desk or a table. Equipment: Office equipment.
Education
Required Qualifications: PhD or terminal degree or combination of education and experience may substitute for minimum education.
