Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Academic Advisor/Learning Specialist in Boca Raton, FL. This role provides academic advising and learning support to foster student-athlete success, retention, and timely graduation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and program academic support for student-athletes across several teams, focusing on priority sports and students with diagnosed learning disabilities.
  • Provide individualized support to student-athletes, including interpretation of psychoeducational evaluations and collaboration with Student Accessibility Services.
  • Oversee the SASC tutorial program, including recruiting, training, and evaluating tutorial staff, and serving as liaison with other academic support services on campus.
  • Oversee part-time staff, including tutors, mentors, and graduate assistants.
  • Demonstrate mastery of advising knowledge across all colleges, model expertise in advising practice, and engage professionally with athletics partners, coaches, administrators, student-athletes, parents, faculty, and staff.
  • Ensure compliance with NCAA and Conference eligibility requirements, including progress toward degree, GPA, and degree applicability of courses; maintain records and track student-athlete eligibility.
  • Utilize early warning resources to proactively support student-athletes.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of student-athlete recruiting services.
  • Monitor student academic plans to ensure timely graduation using advising, academic support, and student development theories.
  • Provide oversight to Academic Mentors and graduate assistants, and initiate new programming for student resource indicators.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.
  • Three years of advising or related experience.

Pay

$58,000 annually.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
