Salary

The annual salary for this position ranges from $45,400 to $54,000. The final offer will be commensurate with the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications.

Purpose of Position

Deliver individual and group academic advisement to current and prospective students new to UT Arlington. Assists with the planning and delivery of an academic advising initiative, conducts proactive outreach, provides interventions for students with academic early alerts, and lends additional support to students on academic warning/probation. Responsible for facilitating the exchange of academic and technical information. Provide professional advisement to enhance the academic experience, student retention and completion.

Essential Functions

  • Counsels students on academic topics such as degree requirements, relevant course selection, and assists students in setting and achieving educational and career goals.
  • Maintains a clear understanding of all applicable federal, state, and University policies and procedures.
  • Monitors the academic progress of a student caseload. This includes proactive outreach to provide students with just-in-time assistance.
  • Analyzes and interprets student data, transcripts, and placement results. Enters advising notes into MyMav following best practices for documenting student appointments/contacts.
  • Conducts verification of degree progress, removal of holds, and approval of various forms to ensure timely student progression, etc.
  • Leads projects or initiatives.
  • Participates in meetings, professional conferences, and individual professional development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of experience working with college students or adolescents in an advising capacity or six (6) years of an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master’s Degree is strongly preferred.
  • Two (2) years of experience as an academic advisor at a public R1 University.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Federal, state, and local policies and procedures governing academic advising functions; and resources provided by academic advising associations such as NACADA and TEXAAN.
  • A working knowledge and ability to utilize the University Catalog is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students and colleagues from a wide range of abilities, backgrounds, and experiences.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday; 8:00am through 5:00pm
10% Travel
Telework environment (remote & office)

Working Conditions

May work around standard office conditions.
Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
