Academic Advisor for Law Program in ADA University – Vacancy

We are seeking an Academic Advisor for the Law Program to guide undergraduate and graduate students in constructing meaningful educational plans aligned with their academic and life goals. This role involves close collaboration with faculty and staff to build support systems that help students stay on track until graduation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic advising plans based on student data and delivery outcomes.
  • Advise students in academic goal-setting and achievement, identifying the most effective path to program completion.
  • Interpret and explain University policies and procedures.
  • Provide information on academic programs, leaves of absence, academic probation, transfer options, and services for special needs.
  • Maintain regular contact with students throughout the term, addressing concerns and providing support.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records and data.
  • Assist students with course selection, specializations, majors, and minors based on their academic preferences.
  • Serve as the primary academic advisor for transfer evaluation, course selection, and registration processes.
  • Advise students on registration, add/drop, and withdrawal procedures.
  • Develop and implement plans for students on academic probation, identifying problems and solutions.
  • Provide follow-up services to students experiencing academic difficulties, including those on academic probation.
  • Partner with campus departments and off-campus agencies to ensure students access enrichment opportunities (internships, study abroad, capstone).
  • Respond promptly and accurately to student inquiries.
  • Collaborate as a leading team member within the Student Advising team.
  • Assist in forming and implementing organizational goals and objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law; a Master’s degree in Law or a related field is an advantage.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with a diverse workforce and student population.
  • Fluency in English and Azerbaijani, with strong written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement responsibilities while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work as a team member, interpret rules and regulations, and adapt to change.
  • Ability to present materials effectively to individual students or groups.
  • Ability to maintain records, prepare reports, and conduct correspondence related to the work.

This role reports to both the Dean of the School of Public and International Affairs and the Director of the Law Program.
