Academic Advisor

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled and student-centered Academic Advisor to join our School of Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering and Applied Science team. In this role, you will provide developmental academic advising for new and continuing students using a case management approach. You will assist students in defining personal and academic career goals, interpreting and understanding placement scores, program curriculum and pre-requisites, and developing basic skills to register for courses, as appropriate. The Academic Advisor will refer students to appropriate internal and external resources that foster student success.

Responsibilities

• Provide strong customer service and/or student advocacy as demonstrated through a positive attitude of approachability, adaptability, and desire to identify and support student success
• Use canvas and salesforce and internal Ivy Tech systems to assist with scheduling and maintaining accurate advising records
• Apply advanced problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve student issues and situations
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, utilizing clear communication to ensure smooth workflow and project success
• Manage a caseload and communicate effectively via text, email, and phone
• Work in a fast-paced environment for new student advising and orientation events as well as continuing student events

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree required for consideration

Qualifications

• Familiarity with canvas and salesforce platforms
• Experience in higher education and advising or similar environments
• Ability to multi-task and handle fast-paced events and a large volume of email and student inquiries
• Problem solving and adaptability
• Support retention, persistence, and completion for SAMEAS students
• Will be required to work 4 Saturdays per year

• Technical Skills: Proficiency in zoom and Microsoft word and excel, with hands-on experience in higher education platforms

Pay

$53,000 - $55,000 annually (based on experience)

Full-time, variable schedule
