Position Overview

The Academic Advisor focuses on the whole student in an innovative, holistic advising model. Advisors build relationships with students and motivate them to reach their goals. The holistic model integrates vocational, academic, financial, and social exploration and goal setting, aiming to meet the university’s persistence and matriculation goals.

Essential Duties

  • Analyze student's SRP data to counsel them on academic goals, social involvement, and financial preparedness.
  • Manage student success strategies based on SRP data and other variables to address students' needs and meet retention goals.
  • Analyze data to connect students with necessary resources for persistence and matriculation goals.
  • Counsel and instruct students on degree requirements, involvement, goal setting, success strategies, and academic operations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with students to manage their territories and meet weekly contact and retention goals.
  • Closely monitor students to proactively identify at-risk scenarios and develop/implement academic success strategies.
  • Administer University student policies to ensure academic success, meeting SAP, and degree completion.
  • Review transcripts, provide assessments, and inform students about transfer credits.
  • Collaborate with university staff to coordinate student inquiries and address them in a timely manner, supporting academic integrity and University policies.
  • Identify students at risk of not meeting SAP to develop and implement comprehensive plans for success.
  • Communicate with students about their academic progress and make changes to their enrollment based on academic operations.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree: Required
  • Master's Degree: Preferred
  • 2+ years Academic Advising/Student Services experience
  • 1+ years Experience working within a CRM platform
