Academic Adviser

About the role

Penn State Scranton is seeking a highly motivated, student-centered individual to join the Academic Advising Center as a full-time academic advisor.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the assigned academic adviser to primarily first-or second-year undergraduate students where you develop relationships, coach exploratory engagement, and monitor academic progress.
• Develop expertise in interpreting University policies, procedures, and curricular requirements.
• Play an essential role in the planning and implementation of New Student Orientation.
• Participate in campus and University-wide committees, projects, and initiatives.
• Aid with advising programs and workshops, new student registration, change of campus student programs, and various recruitment events.

Requirements

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a desire to work with students in a high-volume center are necessities for success in this position.
• The successful candidate will have a strong background in working with high school or college-aged students, with a proven track record and commitment to serving multiple student populations.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree
• 1+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted
• Required Certifications: None

Pay

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $44,628.00 - $64,668.00.

Schedule

Campus Security Crime Statistics

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR).

The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
