About the role
The Absolute Laser MD team is seeking a results-driven and owner-minded Head of Operations with a proven track record in med spa, aesthetics, or clinical-services operations. This is a leadership role for someone who thinks like an owner, builds scalable systems from the ground up, and takes ownership of day-to-day execution so the founder can step fully into a visionary role.
The strategic direction is set: school-led growth. You will run the med spa day-to-day first while building out the higher-margin advanced-esthetics school in the background, connecting two business streams that operate under one roof into one well-run organization.
This is a critical position within the business, and as such we host a rigorous, 4-part application process. The application code word is EMPOWER.
What makes this role unique
You will step into a business where much of the operational knowledge lives with the founder and the team rather than in documented systems. Your mandate is to change that: to design the scalable, repeatable infrastructure the business has always needed, operationalize a clear strategic direction, and absorb the daily running of the clinic so the founder can focus on vision and long-term growth.
Your success will be measured by one ultimate outcome: building the systems and management structure that let the business run smoothly without depending on any single person, freeing the founder to lead from the front. You will work closely with the founder to establish clear milestones, operating cadences, and decision-making frameworks in your first 90 days, while bringing structure to a relationship-driven team in a way that strengthens the culture rather than strains it.
Responsibilities
- Operational Ownership
- Take the daily running of the business off the founder so she can set direction and make decisions from a visionary seat
- Establish the operating cadences, reporting rhythms, and decision-making frameworks that keep the business moving without daily founder involvement
- Serve as the steady hand that anticipates and resolves day-to-day issues in a self-directed way
- Systems & Process Building
- Design and document scalable, repeatable systems across scheduling, inventory, onboarding, and SOP enforcement
- Connect the spa, school, scheduling, and marketing functions that currently run in silos into one coordinated operation
- Hold the team to consistent standards through clear, documented procedures
- Financial Oversight & Unit Economics
- Own the numbers, building service-level costing and margin visibility across the business
- Run the full economics on any new or stalled service before launch, covering cost, price, profit, and the success markers that determine whether to continue
- Build an operational dashboard that gives a daily at-a-glance view of marketing, sales, operations, and the school
- Team Structure & Role Clarity
- Define clear responsibilities, decision rights, and balanced scorecards for each role
- Build the management layer that will sit beneath the founder as the business scales
- Design career and performance frameworks and a compensation structure that rewards team outcomes alongside individual results
- School Growth & Marketing Direction
- Operationalize the school's growth through additional cohorts, instructors, and a graduate placement pathway connecting students to local med spas
- Oversee the incoming marketing agency or hire across both the med spa and the school
Requirements
- Experience Requirements (Non-Negotiable)
- Proven experience running the operations of a med spa, aesthetics, or clinical-services business, with the ability to take the day-to-day of the clinic first while building the school in the background
- Exposure to standing up or scaling an education or training arm, or operating licensed and regulated services
- A track record of bringing systems and structure into a small, relationship-built business while preserving its culture
- Enough marketing experience to direct or manage an external agency or a marketing hire
- Comfort running two connected business streams operating under one roof
- Core Competencies
- Systems and process building close to from scratch, spanning scheduling, inventory, onboarding, and SOP enforcement
- Financial acumen and unit economics, comfortable owning service-level costing, margins, and pre-launch profitability analysis
- Data and dashboard design that gives leadership daily operational visibility
- Strategy operationalization, translating vision and targets into OKRs, clear owners, and KPIs that get driven to completion
- Org and compensation design, including job scorecards with metrics beyond sales such as client satisfaction, return rate, and reviews
- Critical Soft Skills (Deal-Breakers)
- Servant leadership that lifts and coaches a young team through hands-on support and presence
- High emotional intelligence paired with a systems mind, personable enough to get a relationship-driven team to genuinely adopt the systems you build
- An influential communicator and boundary-setter who can have tough conversations, hold the team accountable, and absorb the conflict a founder naturally prefers to avoid
- The ability to manage up, steady a visionary founder's momentum, surface frictions early, and keep the business focused on the locked direction
- A genuine business-owner mindset that drives the business alongside the founder
- Technical Requirements
- Ability to work on-site in Eugene, Oregon, Monday through Friday at 3467 Hilyard St. Eugene, Oregon, 97405
- Exceptional attention to detail, time-management, and organizational skills
- Data-driven decision maker able to analyze information and make critical choices based on evidence
- Highly resourceful with a natural aptitude for learning new tools and systems
- Candid and direct communicator with strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in English
- Mindset & Cultural Fit
- You think like an owner and hold yourself accountable to the highest standards of performance
- You thrive on bringing order and structure to a business that has run on instinct and relationships
- You find fulfillment in building and leading a team, and you take pride in encouraging the best from people
