Abrasives Specialist
About the role
This position will report to a Metalworking Sales Manager or Metalworking Specialist Manager, and will work in coordination with multiple Sellers, District Managers, inside branch teams, and multiple support personnel within the MSC organization.
Responsibilities
- Supports achievement of Abrasives sales and gross margin goals for their geographical area of responsibility.
- Responsible for collaborating with Category Strategy to execute key Abrasive growth programs and New Product Introduction penetration strategies.
- Supports accelerated Abrasives sales growth with our strategic suppliers.
- Affords assistance with testing new products within target markets.
- Drives cost savings within our core and National Account MW customers for market share gains.
- Maintains an Abrasives Opportunity Funnel in salesforce.com to track progress and success on cost savings activities.
- Logs customer facing activities into salesforce.com.
- Provides technical support for Abrasives application opportunities to the sales team and customers.
- Supports MSC sales associates in the continued learning of how to effectively sell the differentiated value of Abrasives products to end-user customers.
- Captures local supplier support for product testing in support of the sales team.
- Affords assistance to Regional Manager's, District Managers and Key Account Managers as needed in coordinating supplier involvement in regional or branch meetings.
- Provides local exclusive brand technical and brand support.
- Executes Customer Needs Analysis within our metalworking and manufacturing customers.
- Analyzes current manufacturing processes with recommendations for improvement.
- Supports the MSC Culture within all the undertakings of internal and external customer engagement to ensure unity of purpose and fulfillment of MSC's mission.
- Drives the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC's vision and unity of purpose.
- Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or the equivalent required.
- Minimum two years of hands-on machining applications experience or demonstrated proficiency in MW applications required.
- Engineering education, experience or background preferred.
- Expertise in current abrasive portfolio and systems.
- Experience in abrasive product training and safely demonstrating abrasives systems.
- Experience with abrasive specific industrial safety regulations.
- Experience in interacting and helping maintain key accounts.
- Learns and applies Lean or Six Sigma principles.
- Manufacturing process experience preferred.
- Previous field sales experience with an industrial distributor or Abrasives manufacturer is preferred.
- Previous experience with machining productivity improvement or cost savings initiatives preferred.
- Well-rounded proficiency across broad range of metalworking applications is preferred.
Skills
- Good communication skills are required.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
- Experience analyzing data preferred.
- Experience in CNC programming preferred.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Outlook, and Microsoft Office Programs.
Benefits
Compensation starting at $65,300 - $102,630 depending on candidate location and experience. The salary range represented is based on similar roles in comparable industries, and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is based on the candidate's relevant experience, education requirements and peer pay equity. The Company reserves the right to modify the range as market conditions change.
