Duties & Responsibilities
- Handle mooring lines during docking or undocking of the vessel
- Aid in filling potable water, bunkering, discharging black/grey water and connecting/disconnecting shore power as directed
- Perform operational duties as instructed by the Captain or Deck Officer
- Conduct at-sea personnel transfers and cargo operations in all weather conditions
- Perform lookout duties while underway in accordance with Rule 5 of COLREGs
- Assist in alongside and underway cargo evolutions
- Conduct cleaning and custodial tasks of the vessel and property, including maintenance tasks as directed
- Seek the highest levels of quality and professionalism
- Aid in training of new crew as directed
- Affirm compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations
- Maintain vessel integrity to support safety and operational readiness
- Monitor passenger and crewmember safety issues on the boat
- Ensure safety equipment is utilized and appropriate guidelines are followed for all tasks involving physical risk or hazardous materials
- Participate in meetings, training, drills, and safety audits as required by USCG & company policy
- Develop understanding of all phases of shipboard safety procedures and knowledge of location and use of all firefighting and safety equipment (i.e., fire extinguishers, fire stations, life preservers, work vest, and life floats)
- Use proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Handle and dispose of all chemicals and other types of hazardous or caustic materials in compliance with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs)
- Report safety, operational, and environmental issues to your direct supervisor immediately
Requirements & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- United States Coast Guard Merchant Mariner’s Credential (MMC) with an Able-Bodied Seaman Limited (or higher) endorsement
- STCW 95 and the following STCW endorsements: II/4, IV/2, VI/1, VI/2, VI/3, VI/4, VI/5, and VI/6
- RFPNWVPDSD
- Post hire - Ability to obtain and maintain GWO Sea Survival and GWO Lift (Crane) Certifications
- Valid United States Passport
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to acquire and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
- Copy of DD Form 214, if Veteran Status
- Three (3) years’ experience as a seagoing mariner, demonstrating the ability to handle increasing levels of responsibility
- Offshore Wind – Crew Transfer Vessel experience preferred
- Rigging experience preferred
- Engine room experience preferred
- Must live on East Coast
