ABI Independent Living Skills Trainer / ILST

About the role

Project Genesis, Inc., a mission-driven nonprofit, is seeking compassionate and reliable Independent Living Skills Trainers (ILST) to join our Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) team in Plainfield, CT.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals in developing independent living skills such as daily routines, budgeting, cooking, and communication.
• Provide non-medical care, supervision, and socialization based on each client’s personalized service plan.
• Encourage, guide, and celebrate progress — big and small!
• Be a positive, steady presence as your clients build stronger, more fulfilling lives.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old.
• A high school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required).
• Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and good driving record.
• Verifiable experience with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI): 2 years with a high school diploma or equivalent, OR 1 year with a bachelor’s degree.

Pay

• Starting pay: $18.00/hour.
