ABE Instructor - ESL IELCE- One Year Only

Summary

High intermediate level. English 7 - 28 person classes. 25 hours per week teaching, with 5 hours of paid prep. Help from the office for assessment both pre and post test. Curriculum will integrate for seamless starts for students into ParaProfessional program, CNA, IT , Transportation. The teacher will incorporate workplace English, digital literacy both in class and DL, and career readiness (including students working with outside agencies to facilitate career readiness).

Responsibilities

• Help students progress in the class with CASAS exam pre testing and post test exams.
• Teach English, digital literacy, and career readiness to adult students.
• Incorporate workplace English and digital literacy into lessons.
• Facilitate access to career readiness training and job fairs.
• Provide civic instruction on labor laws, voting rights, financial literacy, and community resources.
• Support students in accessing job fairs and partnering with community resource agencies.

Qualifications

• K-12 Licensure (English as a Second Language preferred)
• ABE Licensure
• Experience with adults students
• Cross-cultural experience
• Excellent organizational skills
• Additional licensure in other content area fields (math licensed or strong math teaching skills preferred)
