ABE/GED Teacher - Evening Teacher

Under the direction of the Director of the Adult Learning Center.

Responsibilities

• Plan and provide appropriate learning experiences for students.
• Create an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student.
• Supervise students in various school-related settings.
• Monitor and evaluate student outcomes.
• Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and the community.
• Develop, select, and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
• Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and practices.
• Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.

Requirements

• Knowledge of VBCPS curriculum and techniques for integrating curriculum, VBCPS policies, and effective instructional practices.
• Thorough understanding of the teaching and learning process.
• Ability to provide instruction reflecting multiple perspectives and multicultural education.
• Ability to infuse technology into the curriculum.
• Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office, school-based staff, students, parents, and the community.
• Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
• Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable field of education from an accredited college or university.
• Must have or be eligible for a teacher license from the Virginia Department of Education.
• A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
• An official transcript verifying degree earned and date of conferral is required.
• Three professional references are required; one must be from a current supervisor. Relatives may not serve as references.

Pay

Rate of pay: $33.5993 per hour.

Schedule

• Part-time, temporary position without benefits.
• Maximum of 29 hours per week.
• Work hours: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM, Monday and Wednesday nights.
