ABC Commission Legal Intern (Fall 2026)
About the role
The ABC Commission, a division of the North Carolina Department of Public Safety (NC DPS), is seeking a legal intern for the Fall of 2026. This internship is designed for currently enrolled and/or recently graduated (within 6 months) college students.
Responsibilities
- Legal office support work including agenda meeting preparation
- Legal research
- Public interaction
- Drafting legal documents under supervision
- Aiding with case preparation
- Reviewing files
- Attending court proceedings
- Organizing evidence
Requirements
A copy of your current college transcripts (official or unofficial) must be submitted to verify eligibility. Applications missing this requirement will be deemed incomplete and removed from consideration.
This internship is expected to start on August 24, 2026, and continue through October 23, 2026. The work schedule is part-time (up to 30 hours per week) Monday-Thursday. The rate of pay is $15.00 per hour.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) are not required but may be used to determine the pool of most qualified applicants. Managers may also choose to interview/select applicants who demonstrate Management Preferences.
Skills
Knowledge of administrative law, ability to work independently, attention to detail, and strong communication skills are preferred.

The work schedule is part-time (up to 30 hours per week) Monday-Thursday. The rate of pay is $15.00 per hour. This position qualifies for teleworking on a part-time basis as part of the State Telework Program.
