About the role
The Intensive Autism Technician provides direct services to children diagnosed with Autism, using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. They participate in Behavior Skills Training and assist during Practical Functional Assessments. Duties include natural environment training, skills-based treatment, data collection, and intensive autism intervention.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to individuals diagnosed with Autism who reside at Damar North.
- Assist the treatment team in evaluating clinical services.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- ABA therapy experience and/or experience working with children with autism is preferred but not required.
- Ability to use an iPad and computer.
- Must have or be able to obtain Therapeutic Crises Intervention (TCI) Certification.
- Must have or be able to obtain CPR Certification.
- Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving).
- Be clear of any felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect or other disqualifying criminal convictions.
- Successfully complete a pre-employment physical.
- Favorably meet and maintain Damar’s background screening.

- Minimum age of 21 per licensure requirements.

- Demonstrates confidence when making decisions in the moment regarding Skills Based Treatment.
- Completes and updates mandatory training and other licensure related items in a timely manner.
- Attends mandatory staff meeting and other meetings as assigned.
- Sets the best use of materials, equipment and staff to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
- Utilizes data collection in relation to driving and tracking outcomes and achieving agency initiatives and goals.
- Ensures that the agency meets its quality improvement, evaluation and reporting requirements.
- Takes pride and ownership in Damar’s facilities and assigned work areas.
- Maintains neat, chronological documentation of all goals and behaviors.
- Interacts professionally with parents, school, medical personnel, and others using only excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
