About the District

Southbridge Public Schools serve approximately 2,200 students in six schools. The district is undergoing extensive turnaround at all levels with assistance from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, creating unique opportunities for teachers and students. Initiatives include a long-term partnership with the University of Connecticut to develop Southbridge Schools as a national demonstration site for successful implementation of PBIS strategies. The district has also received significant grants for creatively redesigning Secondary School, enhancing curriculum, improving culture and climate, and expanding afterschool opportunities for students. Responsibilities

• Work 1:1, 1:2, or in small groups with students based on disability and learning needs.
• Run task analysis for daily living skills, including eating, toileting, and hygiene care.
• Train in and follow Physical Management protocols.
• Support PASS classrooms in different buildings based on student population and census.
• Develop instructional materials under the direction of the teacher and/or BCBA.
• Assist in creating and editing behavior and academic data under teacher/BCBA supervision.
• Collect and summarize individualized data for educational and behavioral programs.
• Monitor and report student progress in academics and behavior to the teacher/BCBA.
• Assist in formulating Behavior Support Plans.
• Implement behavior plans for multiple students with fidelity.
• Provide coaching to staff on Applied Behavior Analysis principles, including behavior plans and data collection, under BCBA/special education teacher supervision.
• Run discrete trial training programs; experience with program development is a plus.
• Carry out and implement instructional programs developed by regular/special education teachers.
• Complete required documentation related to incidents, accidents, discipline, and assaults under teacher/BCBA direction.
• Perform other assignments designated by the classroom teacher or special education supervisor.

Requirements

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Ability to effectively communicate.
• Frequent standing, walking, sitting, use of hands, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, and running.
• Occasional lifting and/or moving of children/objects.
• Ability to work in noisy, stressful, high-pressure environments while maintaining concentration and ensuring child safety.
• Ability to respond to emergency situations (e.g., injured student, behavior problems, abusive students).
• May be exposed to bodily fluids, including saliva, urine, feces, vomit, and blood.
• Work performed under conditions with exposure to risk of injury.

Qualifications

RBT or BCaBA certification is a plus. Supervision will be provided by the program BCBA.
