About the role
The Experience Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring an optimal experience at Arizona Science Center. They are responsible for using exemplary service and technical skills throughout the Irene P. Flinn Giant Screen Theater, the Dorrance DOME, and the Center's exhibit galleries.
Responsibilities
- Works across teams to understand and implement the technical aspects of special events, anticipating non-stated technical needs, and ensuring the set-up and operation of various audio/visual equipment, including sound mixers, microphones, stage lights, video projectors, etc.
- Affords assistance with Exhibit/Theatrical lighting throughout the Center, including traveling shows.
- Operates projectors and audio equipment to provide scheduled daily shows and special events in Giant Screen Theater.
- Under the direction of management, ensures all equipment in booths and theaters is maintained in first-class condition at all times through regular maintenance.
- Provides troubleshooting for all theater and A/V equipment.
- Affords assistance in maintaining storage, organization, and inventory of A/V equipment and Projection supplies.
Requirements
- Minimum of two years related experience, education and/or training.
- An understanding of Audio/Video equipment, systems, tools, software, and programs is required.
Qualifications
- Reasoning ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Physical demand to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, balance, climb, crawl, reach, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel; to operate, maintain, and/or install equipment; Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; Safely operate equipment carts, pallet jacks and scissor lifts; Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus; This job also requires the use of a computer which will be placed somewhere in the employee’s workspace. The employee must have the necessary keyboard and computer mouse skills as well as the ability to read a color monitor;
- Physical demand to work efficiently without direct supervision.
- Work is performed indoors and outdoors as needed.
