A Lineman - Transmission (GTC)

Position Summary

The Class A Lineman is a safety-focused professional responsible for constructing and repairing electrical overhead distribution systems. This role involves working on energized and de-energized powerlines and may require travel to various job sites, including out-of-state locations, as needed.

About the Role

Reports to the Foreman, this position requires a safety-first approach to all tasks and responsibilities. The Lineman will lead crew members in safety briefings and train and mentor apprentices and groundmen.

Responsibilities

• Perform new construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead distribution systems
• Lead pre-job and tailgate safety briefings
• Install and repair overhead power lines, poles, insulators, conductors, and related hardware
• Operate and maintain bucket trucks, digger derricks, tensioners, pullers, and other overhead line equipment
• Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and inclement weather
• Perform live-line work using approved glove and hot-stick techniques
• Follow all safety protocols and possess a comprehensive understanding of insulated protective gear to isolate differences of potential

Requirements

• Five (5) years of recent overhead line experience
• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
• Willingness to travel long distances on short notice
• Lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
• Work for extended periods at job locations, including out-of-state assignments
• Willingness to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime

Physical Demands

While performing the responsibilities of this job, you will be required to talk, listen, and use hand signals to communicate. The job frequently requires standing, walking, using hands and fingers to handle objects, operating tools or controls, reaching with hands and arms. Work Environment: Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. Occasional exposure to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. Noise levels in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Exposure to extreme heat, cold, wet, windy, and storm conditions. Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions.
