About the role

Manages, directs and controls FedEx's heavy maintenance, modification and conversion programs at vendor facilities. Ensures that all activities are performed in accordance with the FedEx maintenance, modification and conversion specifications, schedule, configuration requirements, and quality standards. Essential functions include ensuring all programs and work performed are in full compliance with contractual requirements and the federal aviation regulations (FARs).

Responsibilities

  • Direct and control FedEx's heavy maintenance, modification and conversion programs at vendor facilities.
  • Ensure activities comply with FedEx specifications, schedules, configuration requirements, and quality standards.
  • Ensure programs and work are in full compliance with contractual requirements and federal aviation regulations (FARs).

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in airline management, mechanical aerospace technology, or engineering.
  • Valid FAA A&P license required.
  • Minimum Experience: Eight (8) years demonstrated/documented aircraft maintenance, modification and/or conversion experience, including three (3) years of aircraft technician experience in a heavy maintenance, modification and conversion environment on transport category aircraft.
  • Experience in and knowledge of FedEx maintenance programs, FedEx general maintenance manual, the OPNS specifications, and applicable portions of the FARs.
  • Experience in material practices, reliability programs, and engineering applications.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Safety-sensitive position requiring constant state of alertness and safe work practices.

Job Conditions

  • Willingness to work more than 40 hours per week if necessary.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and weekends as required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel without restrictions.
  • Ability to reach, climb, stoop, and bend to access all areas of the aircraft during heavy maintenance, storage, or conversion.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver heavy aircraft-related components, parts, equipment, and manuals as necessary.
  • Subject to regulatory alcohol and drug testing, including testing for marijuana, PCP, amphetamines, cocaine, and opioids.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engine run-up experience.
  • Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the work location.
