About the role
The Special Education teacher under the direction of the school principal and/or assistant principal, implements research-based instructional strategies to meet the unique needs of assigned students. Instruction is individualized, accommodating differences in learning styles, rates, and levels.
Responsibilities
- Maintain competency in subject matter areas and adapt to new assignments as needed.
- Employ assessment methods to identify student proficiency and develop tailored programs.
- Strive for positive relationships with students, parents, and community members.
- Promote and support district goals and participate in educational committees.
- Develop culturally responsive lessons and supervise instructional paraprofessionals.
- Adhere to ethical standards and adhere to district policies.
- Submit weekly lesson plans and maintain digital records.
- Travel within and outside the North Slope Borough School District.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Education required; Master's Degree preferred.
- Experience: 6 years with a Bachelor's, 8 years with a Master's.
- Alaska Teacher Certificate required.
- Three years of experience in education preferred.
- Inupiaq, Language, History & Culture experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree preferred.
- Experience in special education and inclusive classrooms.
- Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to diverse learning environments.
- Knowledge of Alaska Native cultures and languages.

- Proficiency in assessment and instructional planning.

Benefits
