9th-12th Grade Social Studies Teacher

About the role

The Special Education teacher under the direction of the school principal and/or assistant principal, implements research-based instructional strategies to meet the unique needs of assigned students. Instruction is individualized, accommodating differences in learning styles, rates, and levels.

Responsibilities

• Maintain competency in subject matter areas and adapt to new assignments as needed.
• Employ assessment methods to identify student proficiency and develop tailored programs.
• Strive for positive relationships with students, parents, and community members.
• Promote and support district goals and participate in educational committees.
• Develop culturally responsive lessons and supervise instructional paraprofessionals.
• Adhere to ethical standards and adhere to district policies.
• Submit weekly lesson plans and maintain digital records.
• Travel within and outside the North Slope Borough School District.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Education required; Master's Degree preferred.
• Experience: 6 years with a Bachelor's, 8 years with a Master's.
• Alaska Teacher Certificate required.
• Three years of experience in education preferred.
• Inupiaq, Language, History & Culture experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree preferred.
• Experience in special education and inclusive classrooms.
• Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to diverse learning environments.
• Knowledge of Alaska Native cultures and languages.

• Proficiency in assessment and instructional planning.

Benefits

Village Stipend: Additional $4,500

Pay

Negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
