About the role

As a Special Electronic Devices Repairer in the Army National Guard, you will maintain and ensure the operational readiness of sophisticated electronic equipment used on and off the field. This includes night vision devices, electronic distance and azimuth-orienting devices, battlefield illumination devices, nuclear, biological, and chemical warning and measuring devices, and other critical instruments.

Responsibilities

• Test instruments, navigational controls, and simulators
• Read technical diagrams and manuals
• Replace parts and perform quality control measures
• Troubleshoot and inspect equipment
• Supervise and train other Soldiers in repair procedures (at advanced levels)

Helpful Skills

• Interest in mathematics, problem-solving, and electronic equipment repair
• Strong attention to detail

Training & Education

Job training consists of:

• 10 weeks of Basic Training for foundational Soldiering skills
• 25 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, including classroom instruction, hands-on equipment practice, and field training under simulated combat conditions

Through this training, you will develop skills applicable to civilian careers with organizations such as the Federal Aviation Administration, NASA, or the National Weather Service.

Requirements

• Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
• Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or GED
• Age between 17 and 35
• Ability to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
