About the role
The Small Arms/Artillery Repairer is responsible for maintaining the electronic systems of various weapons used by the Army National Guard.
Responsibilities
- Maintain electronic systems of small arms and artillery
- Operate electronic, electrical, and mechanical test equipment
- Develop skills for civilian careers as electronic mechanics, avionics technicians, or missile facilities repairers
Requirements
- Must be at least a junior in high school or have a high school diploma/GED
- Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
- Must pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
- Must meet citizenship requirements (see NATIONALGUARD.com for details)
Qualifications
Preference for work requiring accuracy and attention to detail, interest in working with weapons.

- Electronic and mechanical principles and concepts
- Understanding schematics, drawings, blueprints, and wiring diagrams

Schedule
In the Army National Guard, training consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training and 7 weeks of Advanced Individual Training. Training includes both classroom and field work.
Pay
Actual MOS assignment may depend on MOS availability. Candidates must be between the ages of 17 and 35 to qualify. Non-prior service candidates may earn between $200 and $250 per drill weekend, subject to change.
