Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of a School Principal, CREC teachers facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district-approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students by creating a flexible, safe, and culturally responsive learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver effective instruction and assessment of student learning, aligned with the Danielson Framework and incorporating CREC Essential Skills.
- Develop and administer curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
- Promote a classroom environment conducive to student success.
- Design and implement personalized, innovative instruction that promotes deeper learning.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials tailored to individual student needs, including those with special needs.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, modifying instructional methods as needed.
- Maintain familiarity with district, state, and national standardized assessments.
- Acquire professional knowledge and stay current with developments in the educational field.
- Organize and maintain accurate record-keeping, grading, and reporting for student activities, achievement, and attendance.
- Facilitate families as co-educators in students' education and ensure effective communication with students, parents, and stakeholders.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior in accordance with school and district policies.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with other staff members and participate in staff meetings and workshops.
- Participate in student planning and placement meetings as required.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and central office administrators.
Equipment & Travel
- Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
- Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education or a discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
- State Certification as a Language Arts Teacher or as required for the position.
- Master’s Degree preferred.
- Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
- Motor Vehicle Operator’s License or ability to provide own transportation.
Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of current teaching methods, educational pedagogy, and differentiated instruction based on student learning styles.
- Knowledge of English grammar, word usage, denotations, connotations, spelling, literature, and related content areas.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work effectively.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation regarding performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
Work Environment
- Works in standard office and school building environments.
- Physical, sensory, and environmental requirements as outlined in the job description.
