Opening Work Shift: Rotating (D/E/N, 8- & 12-hour shifts, weekends and holidays per unit policy)

Pay Range: $38.00 - $41.80 (minimum and maximum compensation; individual salaries will be determined by factors including market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise, and internal equity)

About the Role

Functions as a new graduate nurse with less than one year of experience. Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, continues to build competency in the provision of direct patient care. Contributes to unit activities and supports enhancement of the care delivery system at the unit level. Supports peers in the delivery of patient care services.

Exciting opportunity to become part of a fast-paced, dynamic nursing team dedicated to caring for a variety of pediatric patients. Nurses on 8 North have specialized competencies to care for children with neurologic and cardiac disorders, burns, and is the preferred unit for Pediatric Complex Care. Nurses will obtain telemetry and PALS certification within one year.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care under the direction of the Nurse Manager
  • Build competency in pediatric nursing, including care for children with neurologic and cardiac disorders, burns, and complex care needs
  • Obtain telemetry and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within one year
  • Collaborate with members of the multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive and holistic care
  • Actively participate in unit/service activities and assess unit needs
  • Assume the charge nurse role as required
  • Support co-workers in the delivery of patient care services
  • Commit to patient- and family-centered care

Requirements

  • Diploma, Associate, or Bachelor's degree from an accredited Nursing Program
  • Active New York State RN license in good standing
  • Strong communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills
  • Pediatric and/or acute care experience preferred

Level I Applicants: Less than 6-12 months of RN experience.

Level II Applicants: Minimum of 6-12 months of RN experience.
