About the role
Dr. John Ochsner Discovery Health Sciences Academy seeks a Middle School Science Teacher certified in Middle School Science Education.
Responsibilities
- Teach science to 7th and 8th grade students
- Support students in areas such as EOC/LEAP 2025 testing, ACT/SAT prep, and Louisiana State Standards
- Implement STEM instruction, Design Thinking, and Project-Based Learning
- Support one or more extra-curricular clubs or sports outside of the regular school day
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science Education
- Desirable: Degrees/Certifications in Special Education, Gifted Instruction, Curriculum and Instruction, ESL, and/or Reading Specialist certification
- 2+ years experience teaching middle school students in a school setting
- Interest and ability to support extra-curricular activities
Qualifications
- Knowledge of STEM instruction, Design Thinking, and Project-Based Learning
Skills
- Ability to teach middle school science
- Knowledge of EOC/LEAP 2025 testing, ACT/SAT prep, and Louisiana State Standards
- Experience with STEM education methodologies
- Ability to support extracurricular activities
