Responsibilities
- Extends care by joining hands with patients and their families to provide compassionate, whole-person healthcare.
- Transports patients to inpatient departments and monitors patients to PCU/med-tele, or accompanies RN to transport patients to specialty units.
- Assists physicians and nurses with procedures and exams, including setting up and cleaning up for sutures, pelvic exams, lumbar punctures, and applying orthopedic splints and casts.
- Performs hourly rounds to keep patients informed, ensure they have call bells, pillows, blankets as needed, and that caregiver names are on the boards.
- Monitors infusion sites, removes IV lines as directed by RN, performs venipuncture for testing, inserts peripheral venous access (IV) and intraosseous (IO) lines, hangs IV fluid without medication, maintains prescribed IV flow rates, initiates oxygen therapy, cardiac monitoring, detects dysrhythmias, and notifies the assigned nurse or charge nurse of abnormalities.
- Attaches and completes 12 lead EKG tests before providing the strip to the physician on duty.
- Performs accurate order entry and provides patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture.
- Champions customer service by keeping patients informed, providing updates, apologizing for waits, demonstrating caring and compassion, advocating for pain management, and ensuring patients can get help at any time.
- Follows CDC isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of personal protective equipment, performs hand washing according to policy, and enforces safety regulations.

Requirements

- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Skills
- Licensed Paramedic (PARA).
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support Cert (PALS).
Qualifications
- Associate degree in a relevant field.
- 1+ years of emergency department or pre-hospital paramedic experience.
- Cross-training as a monitor tech.
