About the role

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, suspension, electrical, hydraulic, body components and systems related to heavy duty and light duty trucks.
  • Support coworkers in the maintenance and repair of a fleet of refuse and recycling vehicles.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
  • Interpret failure modes using vehicle computer electronics systems to initiate or assign repairs.
  • Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform outside repair inspections and assess structural damage.
  • Provide guidance and direction to shop technicians.
  • Complete all required paperwork in a timely and concise manner.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Ability to provide drive train inspections, diagnosis, and repair.
  • Ability to provide general engine inspection, diagnosis, and repair.
  • Ability to provide transmission inspection, diagnosis, and repair.
  • Ability to perform outside repair inspections and review.
  • Ability to assess structural damage and assign needed repairs.
  • CDL Class B preferred or the ability to obtain a CDL license.
  • Preferably with waste/recycling industry experience.
  • Clear understanding of OSHA safety requirements for vehicle fleets.
  • Ability to utilize computers for data tracking, communication, etc. (dossier, Microsoft office).

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of hands-on technical experience in the maintenance and repair of medium duty class 8 vehicles and equipment.
  • Preferably with waste/recycling industry experience.
  • Clear understanding of OSHA safety requirements for vehicle fleets.
  • Ability to utilize computers for data tracking, communication, etc. (dossier, Microsoft office).

Skills

  • Advanced knowledge and ability to diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, suspension, electrical, hydraulic, body components and systems related to heavy duty and light duty trucks.
  • Knowledge of gasoline, diesel, and CNG systems.
  • Welding and fabrication skills.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements for vehicle fleets.
  • Proficiency in using computers for data tracking and communication.

Pay

Pay rates are based on skills, experience, and certifications. There is also an ASE Certification Testing Reimbursement and wage increases for each certification obtained.

Schedule
