Mystic Valley Regional Charter School (MVRCS) in Malden, MA was founded in 1998 and serves over 1,800 students in Kindergarten through Grade 12. About the Role

The Spanish Teacher is responsible for implementing MVRCS’s Spanish program in Grades 7-12, delivering instruction according to the Core Knowledge program and methodology. High school assignments may include International Baccalaureate (IB) coursework, featuring a rigorous and world-renowned curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Execute a program of study according to the documented curricula, including IB coursework where applicable. Teachers are generally assigned five subject-area classes, each meeting daily.
• Deliver instruction using Core Knowledge and IB methodology, with lessons based on clear learning objectives.
• Assess student progress regularly, providing progress reports and report cards as required.
• Collaborate weekly with colleagues in the Languages department on curriculum, instruction, assessment, data analysis, and methodology.
• Implement the school’s assertive discipline model for classroom management.
• Attend all staff meetings and participate in staff development programs.
• Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the Languages Department Chair and/or Assistant Director.

Requirements

• At least a bachelor’s degree in Spanish.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing, including report and correspondence writing.
• Strong analytical skills to evaluate information, define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community.
• Awareness of school requirements, state and federal laws, and MVRCS policies.
• Experience evaluating student skills and writing reports interpreting/summarizing findings.
• Strong collaborative, teaching, coaching, and leadership skills to support student programming and teamwork.
• Strong organizational skills to balance the demands of a multi-tasking position.
• Knowledge of specialized content area and related laws/procedures.
• Ability to plan and implement lessons based on district/school objectives and student needs.
• Successful completion of applicable MTEL tests within one year of employment.
• U.S. Work Authorization required.

This position reports to the Languages Department Chair and is evaluated yearly as an annual appointment.
