About the Role
This is a one-year contract position for an Elementary Classroom Teacher (grades 1-8 or K-6) under the general supervision of the School Principal. The role focuses on facilitating student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district-approved curriculum, creating a safe and optimal learning environment, and providing feedback to students, parents, and administration.
Responsibilities
- Develop and administer elementary curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
- Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, translating them into engaging learning experiences.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and modify instructional methods to fit individual needs, including students with special needs.
- Instruct students in responsible citizenship and other subjects as specified by applicable laws and regulations.
- Stay current with professional knowledge and educational developments by attending seminars, workshops, or conducting research.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of student activities, achievement, and attendance.
- Encourage parental involvement and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
- Coordinate with other elementary staff to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participate in faculty meetings and committees.
- Select and requisition appropriate books, instructional aids, and supplies, maintaining inventory records.
- Supervise students during out-of-classroom activities, including those involving school transportation.
- Administer standardized tests in accordance with District testing programs.
Requirements
- Knowledge of current teaching methods, educational pedagogy, and differentiated instruction based on student learning styles.
- Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and action plan formulation.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills.
- Effective communication with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation regarding performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
Certification: Elementary 1-8 or Elementary K-6 required.
