About the role
The Roaring Fork School District (RFSD) seeks a dedicated and passionate educator to join the 6th Grade English Language Arts (ELA) team for the 2026-2027 school year at Glenwood Springs Middle School. Reporting to the Principal, this position is classified as a Certified Exempt - Full-Time (1.0 FTE / 40 hours per week) with a contract period of 185 working days. The annual salary range is $54,000 to $83,500, based on education and years of relevant teaching experience.
Responsibilities
- Engage in standards-based, engaging, and dynamic instruction tailored to meet diverse student needs.
- Foster positive relationships with students from various backgrounds.
- Serve as a Crew Leader for a group of students, acting as an advocate, primary point of contact, and building meaningful relationships.
- Maintain and support students' academic and social progress.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
- An active Colorado Teaching License endorsed in Middle School Language Arts (6-8) or English Language Arts (6-12), or the ability to obtain.
- Experience teaching English Language Arts preferred.
- Familiarity with ELA standards, literacy strategies, and effective instructional practices.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to teach, collaborate, and engage students.
- Ability to adapt lessons for diverse learners, including English Language Learners (ELLs) and students with special needs.
- Ability to assess student progress and use data to inform instruction.
- Familiarity with educational technology tools for teaching, grading, and communication.
- Openness to coaching, feedback, and reflection for continuous improvement.
- Values-driven instructional leadership and professionalism.
- Strong sense of personal ownership and passion for improving outcomes for all students.
Qualifications

- Speaking and writing ability in Spanish is not required, but is a plus.

Pay
*The annual salary listed above is based on a full-time, 8-hour workday (FTE 1) and a full working calendar. For positions with less than a full FTE or reduced hours, such as part-time or late-start positions, the salary will be prorated accordingly.
Schedule
Full-time, 40 hours per week.
