About the role

Lids Sports Group is a leading licensed sports retailer in North America, operating over 1,300 stores. This position is for Assistant Store Managers who will lead and engage the team, fostering a passionate environment for sports and fashion.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Act as Manager on Duty for employee scheduling and handling customer complaints when the Store Manager is not present.
  • Manage store associates through LIDS Training Programs, goal setting, and regular follow-up.
  • Administer disciplinary measures, including warnings, when the Store Manager is not present.
  • Engage team members by creating a fun and productive environment and explaining how their work contributes to the store and Lids.
  • Contribute to a respectful and inclusive team environment by establishing supportive relationships and adhering to Lids Brand Standards.
  • Schedule and staff the store, including calling in associates for unexpected peaks, and participate in LIDS Training Programs.
  • Aid in recruiting and training store personnel on proper operations and procedures.
  • Encourage store associates' compliance with company policies, procedures, and guidelines, including safekeeping of company assets.
  • Execute operations-focused directives, promotions, and initiatives from Lids HQ.
  • Maintain a safe work environment, manage store technology, and ensure store facilities are maintained.
  • Manage cash transactions, including opening and closing the till, and prepare the store for inventory audits.
  • Protect company assets according to LIDS Retail policies and manage store inventory, including receiving, transferring, and conducting product counts.
  • Execute optimal layout and visual merchandising strategies, including managing window activations and seasonal merchandise changes.
  • Operate a computer and mobile Point-of-Sale system, as well as maneuver relative software programs.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, employees, and other personnel, and adhere to current visual guidelines.
  • Resolve customer feedback and issues in the moment, including customer escalations and urgent requests, and ensure customers have the opportunity to participate in Lids membership programs or special offers.
  • Protect company assets according to LIDS Retail policies and manage store inventory, including receiving, transferring, completing price changes, and conducting product counts.
  • Execute special pricing signage and promotional presentations during operating hours to align with overall product sell-through strategy.

Job Required Knowledge & Skills

  • Established ability to produce sales results while minimizing loss.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate verbally in a clear professional manner.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.

Physical Demands & Requirements

  • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
