About the Role

The School Psychologist is responsible for completing multidisciplinary evaluations of students and consulting with the Child Study Teams/Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) team to help students succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. Services supplement the contributions of teachers, counselors, and other school personnel in facilitating students' intellectual, social, and emotional development.

Responsibilities

• Conducts extensive psychoeducational evaluations of referred students and prepares written reports in accordance with departmental standards and in compliance with Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) statutes, federal and local regulations, and timelines.
• Interprets the results of evaluations and educational data to schools, professionals, parents, and students.
• Participates as a member of the multidisciplinary team and data teams to assist in defining student difficulties, developing interventions, and monitoring responses to interventions.
• Assists Individual Education Plan (IEP) teams in developing meaningful, objective, and measurable IEP goals for newly identified students with special needs and supports instructional staff in progress monitoring.
• Maintains accurate and updated records on all referred students and services provided while ensuring confidentiality.
• Makes appropriate referrals for further diagnostic evaluation services when necessary.
• Provides staff development on topics such as academic assessment and intervention, progress monitoring, behavioral assessment, classroom management, positive behavioral support, data collection, graphing, and data analysis.
• Performs other duties as required by the supervisor.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree.
• PA Certification as a School Psychologist.
• School Psychology experience preferred.

Knowledge

• Legal, ethical, and professional issues related to the practice of School Psychology.
• Child and adolescent development.
• Psychometric properties, Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), and Response to Intervention (RTI).
• Computer programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and web-based technologies.

Skills

• Excellent time management to plan, organize, prioritize, and manage work efficiently within timelines.
• Effective oral and written communication with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong assessment and diagnostic skills.

Schedule

7.5 hours/day, 37.5 hours/week, 191 days/year.

Physical Requirements

Sedentary work: involves sitting most of the time. Ability to exert up to 10 lbs of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
