About the role

This position supports K-12 schools and programs across the district who do not have an ESL teacher on staff. The incumbent designs and delivers learning experiences for students in a grade level and/or content area, organizes and facilitates the learning process, and participates in a community of learning.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses student proficiency in English through various assessment tools, including WIDA Screener, ACCESS, and Alternate ACCESS
  • Provides administrators and classroom teachers with materials and background information to help ESL students
  • Displays expertise of second language learning
  • Follows district policy statements and guidelines related to the ESL program
  • Keeps accurate and complete records for ESL students (testing information, English Language Plans, monitor forms, parent letters, and work that represents the ability and growth of the child)
  • Communicates regularly with building contacts and classroom teachers
  • Provides school and/or district training about ESL

Requirements

Candidates for this position should have or be eligible for the Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education (CLDE) or Linguistically Diverse Education (LDE) endorsement from the state of Colorado.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's (Baccalaureate) degree
  • Meets subject, grade level, and/or content area qualifications consistent with Colorado Department of Education and Academy District 20 requirements
  • Academy District 20, Teacher License: Initial - Colorado Department of Education
  • Academy District 20, Teacher License: Professional - Colorado Department of Education

  • Creates, accesses, inputs, retrieves, and manipulates information in various software systems
  • Establishes and maintains accurate record keeping, document management, and filing systems

The position offers competitive compensation and benefits, including:

  • Compensation Range: $52,020.00-$83,163.00 (Based on education and experience)
