5th Grade Teacher, McAuliffe STEM Academy

5th Grade Teacher position at McAuliffe K-8 STEM Academy for the 2026-2027 school year (190-day contract).

About the Role

Provide an enriched atmosphere where students learn subject matter and skills that contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible members of society. Facilitate learning and guide students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation. Reports to the school principal.

Responsibilities

• Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
• Maintains discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff.
• Ensures adequate supervision to assure health, welfare, and safety of all students.
• Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum standards, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicates these objectives to students.
• Uses instructional methods and materials most appropriate for meeting stated objectives and standards.
• Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
• Diagnoses the learning abilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
• Counsels with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis.
• Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct.
• Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for instructional assistants and/or volunteers.
• Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs of individuals or student groups.
• Implements students' IEP plans while ensuring the integrity of academic time and motivating students to learn and participate.
• Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
• Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested under reasonable terms.
• Cooperates with other staff members in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
• Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
• Accepts a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned.
• Takes necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Reports all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as reasonably possible.
• Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
• Complies with and supports school and division regulations and policies.
• Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with students and parents concerning academic and behavioral progress.
• Engages in ongoing professional growth through reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, or advanced coursework.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by building administrator(s).
• Maintains confidentiality regarding students' information.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree.
• Colorado Teaching License.
• Preferred experience in a related field.
• Bilingual preferred.

Pay

Salary placement on the Certified Salary schedule is dependent on the employee's education and work experience. Certified/licensed employees will be granted one year of experience credit for each full year of contractual and/or work experience, up to a maximum of ten years, including in-district and out-of-district experience. Responsibility for verification of outside experience rests with the individual employee.
