About the Role

Delivers quality care to patients through a team effort in working with others through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Assures patient safety by executing appropriate policies and procedures. Provides support for pain management using both pharmacological and non-pharmacological measures. Assists patients and families in identifying individualized comfort measures and follows up on internal resources to determine outcomes of interventions.

  • Mobilizes resources in complex cases to maximize patient control and participation in recovery.
  • Provides information and interpretation of the patient's condition, offering coping mechanisms to both patient and family.
  • Assesses patient information needs and tailors communication to enable successful processing of care and treatment.
  • Formulates and documents a discharge plan that maximizes the patient's ability to continue meaningful life activities.
  • Integrates assessment and diagnostic information with intuition to anticipate age-specific healthcare needs.
  • Ensures handoff communication, including reports on potential situations and awaiting problems.
  • Proactively identifies issues related to patient education for medication management and provides discharge instructions.
  • Uses discretionary judgment to modify patient care regimens and facilitates appropriate responses from the healthcare team.
  • Collaborates with case managers and healthcare providers to promote resolution of care regimen aspects.
  • Displays ability to assess unit needs and adjusts staffing patterns as necessary.
  • Attends educational sessions to improve assessment skills in respective departments (e.g., charge nurse workshops, leadership training).
  • Plans and provides unique, individualized comfort measures using evidence-based practice.
  • Participates in unit-based and hospital-wide committees, performance improvement activities, and Joint Commission readiness.
  • Contributes to achieving successful Patient Satisfaction scores and is aware of HCAHPS measurements.

Requirements

  • Education: Associate's degree or graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Experience: Previous nursing experience preferred but not required.
  • Credentials: AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider, Registered Nurse - NJ.
  • Requires TNCC (or must obtain within 1 year of hire) and 8 hours of Trauma-related Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) contact hours if assigned to: RMC ICU/CCU, RMC Surgical Trauma Unit, RMC PACU, Emergency Department (all campuses).
  • Requires NIH Stroke Scale Certification (or must obtain by end of orientation) and 8 hours of Stroke-related Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) contact hours if assigned to: Critical Care, Emergency Department, Neuro Units, Cardiology Inpatient at Hopewell, Peds/Peds ED.
  • CPR Requirements: ACLS (or must obtain within 6 months of hire) if assigned to: Critical Care/Intermediate/Telemetry, Emergency Rooms, Pediatrics/Pediatrics Emergency Room, Labor & Delivery, Surgical Services (excluding Perioperative), Interventional Procedures, Observation.
  • NRP (or must obtain within 6 months of hire) if assigned to: Maternity Services, Emergency Room RMC/Deborah.
  • PALS (or must obtain within 6 months of hire) if assigned to: Emergency Rooms, Infant Follow-Up, Surgical Services (PACU & Same Day Surgery), Pediatrics/Pediatric ED. ENPC accepted in lieu of PALS for Adult Emergency Room.

Pay

Pay Range: $43.90 - $59.69 per hour for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position. Actual compensation may differ depending on assigned hours and position status (e.g., part-time).
