Position Summary

The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating the forklift for transportation of product and materials. This role works closely with department supervisors, other department leads, and processing team members to ensure accuracy within the processing department and to ensure customers receive quality products. This position supports Foster Poultry Farms' mission, vision, and ACTION guiding principles: Accountability, Collaboration, Truth-Seeking, Initiative, Ownership, and Nimbleness.

Essential Functions

  • Operate forklift for transportation of product and materials.
  • As needed, make minor adjustments to the forklift or notify supervisor if forklift is not working properly.
  • Help maintain and improve quality and food safety, ensuring compliance with company quality standards and USDA regulatory requirements.
  • Work in a safe manner.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand for up to 10 hours on a wet concrete floor.
  • Must be able to withstand a cold (40-48 degree) environment.
  • Must be able to withstand a hot (80+ degree) environment.
  • Must be able to safely lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced work environment.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, varying shifts, and overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to submit and pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and E-verify.
  • Must be able to read and write English legibly.
  • Must be detail-oriented and proficient in mathematics.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to communicate with all levels including management.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must have decision-making ability for flagging deviations from procedures.
  • Must be able to work safely and set an example of safe working habits for coworkers.
  • Must wear company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
