About the role

Venture Community Services provides support to individuals facing diverse challenges through a compassionate and dedicated workforce using innovative practices that encourage independence, empowerment, and opportunity. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for advocating and supporting adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities by empowering them to be as active in their lives as they can.

Their support needs include, but are not limited to, household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing, and other personal care tasks so that they may always look and feel their best. The DSP may assist with medical appointments, banking, community integration, outings, medication administration, and following Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans, goals, and medical guidelines.

DSP workers are provided paid New Employee Orientation, paid CPR/First Aid, Safety Care, Defensive Driving, and Medication Administration Program (MAP) training, as well as program and person-specific training at the individuals’ home. The DSP must be able to safely evacuate individuals from the home in the event of an emergency and maintain all required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in daily living activities (e.g., household maintenance, meal prep, personal hygiene).
• Support individuals in medical appointments, banking, and community activities.
• Administer medications and follow Behavior Support Plans and Individual Support Plans.
• Ensure compliance with Agency policies and DDS regulations.
• Safely evacuate individuals during emergencies.
• Maintain required certifications (CPR/First Aid, MAP, etc.).

Requirements

• 18+ years of age with a high school diploma or GED.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English.
• Commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities in community participation.
• Proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior (work, volunteer, or school history).
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, overnights, or double-shifts.

Pay

$17.50–$19.00 per hour, with paid training provided.

Schedule

• Sunday: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
• Thursday: 11:00 PM – 9:00 AM (overnight)
• Friday: 10:00 PM – 9:00 AM (overnight)
• Saturday: 10:00 PM – 9:00 AM (overnight)

Full-time: 40 hours per week.
