About the Role
This is an Exceptional Student Education Support teaching position serving students in 4th and 5th grades at Key Largo Elementary/Middle School.
Requirements
- Eligibility for Florida certification is required.
- Florida certification in Exceptional Student Education (Grades K-12) and Elementary Education (Grades K-6) is a prerequisite for teaching in field.
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.
Certification Pathways
Out-of-State Certification: If you hold an unexpired professional educator certificate from another state in the relevant subject area, apply for Florida reciprocity.
Special Education Major: Commonly accepted bachelor's (or higher degree) majors for a Florida temporary educator certificate include: Special Education, Mild and Moderate Needs, Teacher of the Handicapped, Varying Exceptionalities, Behavioral Disorders, BD/LD, Emotionally Conflicted, Emotionally Disturbed, Emotionally Handicapped, Socially and Emotionally Maladjusted, Educable Mentally Retarded, Children with Retarded Mental Development (CRMD), Intellectual Disabilities, Mentally Handicapped, Mentally Impaired, Mental Retardation, Profoundly Mentally Retarded, Severely and Profoundly Mentally Retarded, Trainable Mentally Retarded, Learning Disabilities, Specific Learning Disabilities, Motor Disabilities, Orthopedically Handicapped, Physically Handicapped, and Physically Impaired.
Other Majors: For other degree majors, passing the FTCE Subject Area Exam in ESE K-12 is required. Visit the testing website for further details. Study materials are available for purchase through The Learning Liaisons and 240 Tutoring; free sample questions are also available. If at first you don't succeed, you may retest every 30 days.
Pay
Base salary ranges from $62,700.00 to $104,700.00, commensurate with experience. Detailed compensation info for newly hired teachers is available in the Instructional Salary Placement Guide for the 2025-2026 School Year.
