About the role

The Senior Program Director (SPD) oversees multiple programs including finances, staff development, program advocacy and compliance, and strategic planning. The SPD also builds key relationships with stakeholders such as funders, school and community leaders, participants, families, program directors, and support staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent supervision, coaching, and feedback to site leadership and teams.
  • Oversee and continually strategize all operations of the program(s) to ensure enrollment, participation, and program goals are achieved.
  • Ensure the cost-effective delivery of high-quality services to the families served by the program(s) and the smooth operation of the program(s).
  • Prepare for audits and meet with auditors from various regulatory agencies.
  • Develop and implement response and/or change of policies/procedures to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Meet performance expectations/metrics, as defined for the position within the assigned program.
  • Communicate program aspects throughout the agency and oversee community engagement and outreach efforts.
  • Design, secure, and/or facilitate professional development experiences including core divisional trainings.
  • Help ensure skills are transferred to program operations and systems via consistent coaching, feedback, supervisory, and accountability efforts.
  • Manage several Program Directors responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of their respective Programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work, Public Administration or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role, minimum of 2 years’ supervising staff.
  • Demonstrated competence in youth development, supervision, training facilitation, and working knowledge of community program administration and planning.
  • Bilingual in one or more of the following: Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Bengali and others, may be required depending on client needs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to plan and carry out assignments independently.
  • Ability to prioritize, adhere to timelines and multi-task.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work, or related field.
  • Preferred: Master's Degree in Education or Social Work with SIFI certification.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk, sit for long periods of time; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or control; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The director may have to make multiple site visits throughout the day and week.
  • Work is performed in a school environment with typical heating and cooling found in New York City public schools.
