Responsibilities
- Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Programs 5-Axis CNC machines with Mastercam.
- Perform set-ups by setting tools up, offsets, and compensation; calculating tooling requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs; ability to ‘3-point’ workpieces with stock models and tooling balls; ability to hang large work pieces on horizontal machine centers.
- Verifies set-ups by measuring head clearance, machine travel, and positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces, adhering to international standards.
- Maintains specifications by observing machining operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes, and root-cause
