5 Axis CNC Mill Machinist (Day Shift)

Responsibilities

  • Produce quality parts on various machines, including CNC boring mill machines, with minimal supervision.
  • Set up, operate, and inspect parts for conformance to requirements, maintaining close tolerances and maximum efficiencies.
  • Study and interpret drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Measure and mark dimensions and reference points on materials or work pieces as a guide for machining.
  • Detect equipment malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining; adjust machines within capabilities to ensure quality production.
  • Report machine malfunctions to the immediate supervisor.
  • Assist in solving complex plant operating problems and cost-reduction projects.
  • Operate a forklift and lifting devices for movement of parts.
  • Communicate with supervisors, engineers, production control, quality, and other shop personnel to resolve machining or quality issues.
  • Maintain equipment and work area cleanliness; perform basic preventative maintenance.
  • Enforce all Company Health, Safety, and Environmental rules.
  • Utilize safe work habits and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years’ experience operating CNC HBM (Horizontal Boring Mill) in a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Fanuc Control experience.
  • Knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, ID & OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators, scales).
  • Knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, and inserts used on various machines.
  • Forklift experience.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and background check.
  • Ability to create your own setups.
  • Advanced understanding of reading drawings and specifications, including geometric tolerancing and dimensions.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, geometry, algebra) for calculating material fabrication.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment or independently as needed.
  • Willingness to comply with all safety regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to adapt and cross-train for various job duties.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements for up to 12 hours daily.
  • Ability to work in a factory environment with large temperature variations.
