Position Overview Federal Way Audiology is seeking a motivated, compassionate, and enthusiastic 4th-year Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) extern for the 2027–2028 academic year. The extern will work closely with our audiologist and experienced support staff while gaining extensive hands-on experience in a busy private practice setting. This position provides increasing independence throughout the year while ensuring appropriate supervision and mentorship. Externship Opportunities Include Comprehensive audiologic evaluationsDiagnostic vestibular testing, including VNG and balance assessmentsHearing aid evaluations, fittings, verification, and follow-up care with major manufacturersHearing aid troubleshooting, programming, repairs, and counselingTinnitus evaluations and counselingCerumen managementPatient counseling and individualized treatment planningInsurance verification, documentation, and exposure to private practice operationsCollaboration with referring physicians and other healthcare providers Qualifications Currently enrolled in an accredited Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) programCompletion of all academic coursework prior to the externship start dateStrong clinical knowledge and excellent communication skillsProfessionalism, dependability, and a positive attitudeAbility to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a teamPassion for delivering outstanding patient-centered care and eagerness to learn
