4th Grade Teacher

About the Role

This individual will ensure students receive world-class instruction in a safe and welcoming environment. Teachers must build inclusive, nurturing classrooms where students can be themselves and work collaboratively toward common learning goals. Teachers will work alongside colleagues, parents, and students to deliver the best educational experience.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate passion for and expertise in elementary content.
• Provide world-class instruction in math, literacy, social studies, and science to elementary students.
• Use data to guide and effectively differentiate instruction.
• Learn and grow by incorporating feedback from school leaders, colleagues, students, and professional development sessions.
• Build relationships with students and parents to ensure a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment.
• Other duties as assigned to best support the Lansing School District mission.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in education.
• Previous experience working with elementary students.
• Alignment with Lansing School District's mission and values.

Qualifications (Preferred)

• Valid Michigan teaching certificate with an elementary endorsement (e.g., ZC, ZG, ZO, ZP).
• Previous teaching experience in an urban setting.
• Training in CRPBIS, LETRS, Go Math, UFLi, and other related instructional methodologies.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Must be able to move throughout the building and campus, including classrooms, hallways, and outdoor spaces.
• Frequent verbal communication is required to instruct students, lead meetings, and collaborate with staff and families.
• May be required to stand or walk for extended periods, including during supervisory duties.
• Occasional bending, reaching, or sitting on the floor to interact with students.
• Regular use of computers and instructional technology for planning, instruction, and communication.
• Must be able to lift or carry instructional materials and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds.
